HTT: Dad’s Grill Plate

June 4, 2013

FathersDayGrill PlateMaterials Needed:

  • Large Platter (any shape)
  • Glaze Colors: Scarlet, Pooh Bear, Kiwi, Marigold, & Earth
  • Paint Pens: Black, Scarlet, Lemon, & Vanilla
  • Various Brushes
  • An old sponge

Instructions:

  1. Wipe down the piece with a damp sponge to make sure that no dust or dirt has settled on the piece.
  2. Cut down and old sponge to about 1-inch squared. Dab in Scarlet and make a checkered border around the edge of the plate.
  3. Apply stripes of colors longways across a child’s hand in the following general order: Pooh Bear (top bun), Kiwi (lettuce), Marigold (cheese), Earth (hamburger), and Pooh Bear (bottom bun).
  4. Press hand (with fingers together) firmly in the middle of the plate, wiggling each finger down to assure a solid print. Lift hand up all together.
  5. Use Scarlet and Lemon paint pens on top to add mustard/ketchup. Use a Vanilla (or Black) paint pen to add sesame seeds on top of the bun.
  6. Trace buns with black paint pen and write the words “Dad’s Grill Plate” across the top and “Over ## Served” (inserting the number of your household in place of ##).
  7.  Write your name or initials on the back of your piece with a paintbrush or paint pen. (Please note: Pen or pencil will not show up after the firing process.)

Hint: You can also use alternating stripes of Punky and Chocolate Milk on a child’s footprint to create an adorable hotdog to go with or in plate of the hamburger handprint!
