HTT: Dad’s Grill Plate
June 4, 2013
- Large Platter (any shape)
- Glaze Colors: Scarlet, Pooh Bear, Kiwi, Marigold, & Earth
- Paint Pens: Black, Scarlet, Lemon, & Vanilla
- Various Brushes
- An old sponge
Instructions:
- Wipe down the piece with a damp sponge to make sure that no dust or dirt has settled on the piece.
- Cut down and old sponge to about 1-inch squared. Dab in Scarlet and make a checkered border around the edge of the plate.
- Apply stripes of colors longways across a child’s hand in the following general order: Pooh Bear (top bun), Kiwi (lettuce), Marigold (cheese), Earth (hamburger), and Pooh Bear (bottom bun).
- Press hand (with fingers together) firmly in the middle of the plate, wiggling each finger down to assure a solid print. Lift hand up all together.
- Use Scarlet and Lemon paint pens on top to add mustard/ketchup. Use a Vanilla (or Black) paint pen to add sesame seeds on top of the bun.
- Trace buns with black paint pen and write the words “Dad’s Grill Plate” across the top and “Over ## Served” (inserting the number of your household in place of ##).
- Write your name or initials on the back of your piece with a paintbrush or paint pen. (Please note: Pen or pencil will not show up after the firing process.)
Hint: You can also use alternating stripes of Punky and Chocolate Milk on a child’s footprint to create an adorable hotdog to go with or in plate of the hamburger handprint!
