HTT: Baby Chicks Deviled Egg Platter

March 12, 2013

For our “How To Tuesday” posts, we always try to pick a simple design that anyone can achieve, but this post is one of our SIMPLEST and EASIEST and perhaps CUTEST posts yet! All you really need is a paintbrush, one bottle of paint, two paint pens, and know how to draw a triangle. If you can find (or figure out) those things, you’re all set to make this absolutely ADORABLE Baby Chicks Deviled Egg Platter.

ChickDeviledEggPlatterMaterials Needed:

  • Deviled Egg Platter
  • Glaze Colors: Lemon
  • Paint Pens: Orange Sherbet, Black
  • Medium Brush

Instructions:

  1. Wipe down the piece with a damp sponge to make sure that no dust or dirt has settled on the piece.
  2. Paint the inside each divot three coats of Lemon yellow glaze.  Allow to dry. Any stray brushstrokes can be erased with a damp sponge.
  3. Use the Black paint pen to paint eyes in the top third of each divot.
  4. Paint small triangles with the Orange Sherbet underneath each pair of eyes to create the chicks’ beaks.
  5. Draw two straight lines down from the bottom of each divot and add two more lines on the sides to create their feet.
  6. (Optional) Add any inscription in the center of the plate. You can trace it out first with a pencil and then draw it in with any color paint pen.
  7. Write your name or initials on the back of your piece with a paintbrush or paint pen. (Please note: Pen or pencil will not show up after the firing process.)
