How To Tuesday: Duckie Toothbrush Holder

January 15, 2013

It’s positively “quacky” how adorable this toothbrush holder is! Perfect for a rub-a-dub-dub themed little boy’s bathroom, you can create this design on soap dishes and dispensers, light switch covers, and so much more to complete the perfect bathroom set for your little duck.

Materials Needed:

  • Toothbrush Holder
  • Brush
  • Pencil
  • Black Paint Pen
  • Glaze Colors: Blue Yonder, Lemon, & Tang

Instructions:

  1. Wipe down the piece with a damp sponge to make sure that no dust or dirt has settled on the piece.
  2. Sketch out your basic design first. Start with a simple wavy line along the bottom fifth of the Toothbrush Holder. Then sketch out the basic outline of the duck – similar to a paisley – sitting on top of your wavy line.
  3.  Paint three coats of Blue Yonder underneath your wavy water line, and Lemon inside your ducks. Add a small Tang carrot-like shape on the duck’s face for his beak.
  4. Fill in your extra space with Blue Yonder fingerprints – these will be your bubbles!
  5. Use a Black paint pen to outline your waves, adding spirals and swirls underneath.
  6. Outline your ducks beak, then body, and add wings and dots for eyes. Then write “Quack!” along the top of the Toothbrush Holder.
  7. Write your name or initials on the back of your piece with a paintbrush or paint pen. (Please note: Pen or pencil will not show up after the firing process.)
