Merry Christmas and How To Tuesday: Snowman Fingerprint Plate
December 25, 2012
Good Morning and a very Merry Christmas from All Fired Up! We hope that your day is full of time spent with loved ones, and that you will make warm memories that will last for years to come.
All Fired Up is closed today and tomorrow (the 25th and 26th) as we spend time with our families, but that doesn’t mean that we aren’t still thinking about all sorts of creative projects that you can come in and do with your family!
Today’s project is great to display and use all winter long. It’s quick and easy and will be a memory you’ll want to treasure for a lifetime. It’s the perfect group project to engage your kids, no matter their age, and will help remind you just how small their hands were this year.
So, let’s get started, shall we?
Materials:
- Rimmed Dinner Plate
- Glaze Colors: Periwinkle
- Paint Pens: Black, Orange Sherbet, & Various assorted colors
- Brush
Instructions:
- Wipe down the piece with a damp sponge to make sure that no dust or dirt has settled on the piece.
- Paint you or your child’s upper palm and four fingers with Periwinkle glaze and print it firmly along the bottom of the plate.
- Dip a sponge into your Periwinkle and dab it along the bottom of the plate to finish off the hill of snow.
- Use an Orange Sherbet to draw in small triangles for carrot noses; Black for coal eyes, mouths, and buttons; Various colors for additional decorations such as scarves and winter caps.
- Use a Periwinkle paint pen to create snowflakes.
- Write your name or initials on the back of your piece with a paintbrush or paint pen. (Please note: Pen or pencil will not show up after the firing process.)
And that’s all there is to it! Thanks for reading and come back next week for a special New Years Eve edition of How To Tuesday!
